National Training Federation for Wales

Myrick were pleased to attend the NTfW (National Training Federation for Wales) conference on Friday 22nd March at the ICC in Newport.

It was good to see work-based learning providers face to face at last in one venue (this was the first conference since covid), and share information about the current market place in work-based learning in Wales.

Lisa Mytton, NTfW’s Strategic Director, explained that many meetings continue ongoing with Welsh Government over future funding of WBL. She advised that an additional £5.5million of funding had been agreed with the Welsh Government for the academic year 2024/2025 (starting 1st August 2024). This makes the work-based learning funding total £143.5million for the academic year (2024/2025). Whilst still down on previous recent years of funding the feeling was optimistic and positive for the future. Her message to everyone was one of Collaboration and Partnership, to further the great work and positive impact that apprentices make to businesses throughout Wales.

Myrick were fortunate to attend the NTfW’s Apprenticeship Awards on the evening of the conference also. We were the guests on the table of Needle Rock Ltd owned by Dr Ali Wright. Needle Rock were a finalist in the ‘Small Employer of the year’ category….. which they won! What a brilliant achievement for Needle Rock and many congratulations to Ali and the team in Llanrhystyd, and many thanks to her for enabling Myrick to be a part of her brilliant journey.
